Mariia Kaziun

born in 2004 in Kyiv, Ukraine, she is a student and graphic designer with an interest in digital art, painting, and music. She fled to Germany to escape the Russian invasion of Ukraine and has been living in Berlin with her mother and younger brother since March 2022. In 2023 she joined »The Poetry Project« and published three poems in the anthology »Sei neben mir und sieh, was mir geschehen ist« (tr. Be Beside Me and See What Has Happened to Me, 2024). This makes her one of 32 poets whose contributions to the book capture what they experienced during their flight, how their relationship to their former homeland has changed, and how each of them hopes to find their own way of arriving in Germany.
