Mariam Meetra is a poet, journalist and women’s rights activist. Born in Afghanistan, she studied journalism and communication studies in Kabul and social sciences at Humboldt University Berlin, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Leipzig. She worked as a literary curator for Deutsche Welle and the Beethovenfest Bonn and is a member of Afghan PEN. Her first poetry collection «Leben am Rand» was published in Persian in 2013, followed in 2023 by «Ich habe den Zorn des Windes gesehen», her first bilingual poetry collection in German. Her poems have been translated into several languages. Meetra lives in Berlin.
