Lucien Leitess

born in 1950, Leitess studied history, philosophy, and German literature. In 1975, he founded Unionsverlag publishing, which he has headed up ever since. On the 40th anniversary of its founding, he described the house’s consciously international imprint, with 818 books translated from 38 languages, by saying, »the winds of the world blow around our ears […] One of the most beautiful things in the world of books are the human landscapes we get to explore.«
