born in 1974 in Ibadan, is a Nigerian author, poet, and director of the Book Buzz Foundation. After publishing three collections of poetry: »So All the Time I Was Sitting on an Egg« (1997), »Song of a Riverbird« (2002), and »For the Love of Flight« (2010), and an award winning »Mayowa and the Masquerades« (2010), she released her debut novel »The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives« (2010). This bestseller, acknowledged with the PEN Oakland 2011 Josephine Miles Literary Award and the 2011 Ken Saro-Wiwa Prose Prize, is currently being adapted for Netflix. Named Africa Literary Person of the Year in 2017 by »Brittle Paper«, Shoneyin is the founder of the Aké Arts and Book Festival and the curator of Kaduna Book & Arts Festival. She runs the publishing imprint and bookshop Ouida Books and is working on her second novel and her seventh children’s book. She resides in Lagos.
