studied directing at the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. Her graduation film »Glück 1« (tr. Luck 1) was screened at a number of German film festivals and was shown by the ZDF. Janowitz first gained renown with »Das schafft die nie« and »Für immer für dich«, among other films. The director has taught at the Alice Salomon University of Applied Sciences in Berlin since 2006. The documentary »Brown Bread« (dramatic consultant) won Best World Documentary at the Harlem International Film Festival.
