Kira Vinke, born in 1988 in the USA, studied international relations in Berlin, Honolulu, Madrid, and Tokyo. At the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research she is in charge of an interdisciplinary project on the co-production of knowledge about regional climate and water systems and their interactions with agricultural livelihoods, human migration, and security. She is also co-chair of the Advisory Council on Civil Crisis Prevention and Peacebuilding of the German Federal Government.
