Khoo Ying Hooi, born in Malaysia, is an associate professor in the Department of International and Strategic Studies at University Malaya (UM). Her research focuses on the intersectionality of power, human rights, democratization, and civil societies in Southeast Asia. She is the editor-in-chief of the Malaysian Journal of International Relations (MJIR) and author of non-fiction books. She previously headed the International Issues and Cooperation Division at the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM).
