Karolina Kuszyk is a scholar of German and Polish studies, author, and literary translator. She has translated Ilse Aichinger, Karen Duve and Bernhard Schlink into Polish. Her book «Poniemieckie» (2019) sparked a broad debate in Poland about the German heritage. The German edition «In den Häusern der anderen» (2022, translated by Bernhard Hartmann) spent weeks on the Spiegel bestseller list in 2023. Kuszyk received the Kulturpreis Schlesien of the state of Lower Saxony and, together with Bernhard Hartmann, the Georg Dehio Book Prize. She works as a journalist for «Zeit Online», «Deutschlandradio Kultur», and «RBB». Karolina Kuszyk lives in Berlin.
