Biography
born in 1952, is a German geobiologist. He studied geology and paleontology at the University of Tübingen, where he also earned his doctorate in 1984. He qualified as a professor at the Freie Universität Berlin in 1991, and in 1994 was made chair of geobiology at Göttingen University. His main field of research is the interaction between organisms and abiotic factors. Reitner was awarded the Leibniz Prize of the DFG in 1996, and is the president of the German Paleontological Society since 2013.
