Jens Beckert

Jens Beckert, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1967, is Professor of Sociology and has been Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) in Cologne since 2005. He was Professor of Social Theory at the Georg August University in Göttingen between 2003 and 2005. His current research includes the sociology of the market and climate change. »Verkaufte Zukunft: Warum der Kampf gegen den Klimawandel zu scheitern droht« (tr: How We Sold Our Future: The Failure to Fight Climate Change) was nominated for the 2024 German Non-Fiction Prize and the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in the non-fiction category.
