born in 1979 in Haan, after a successful career as an athlete, studied new German literature and communication studies in Düsseldorf. Besides his work as a radio journalist and for newspapers like »Die Welt« he also wrote the novel »Staring at the Sun« (2000), the essay »Twitteratur. Digitale Kürzestschreibweisen« (2013; tr. Twitterature. Short Digital Writings) and the short story collection »Lanzarote« (2014), as well as other works. Drees lives and works in Wuppertal, Hamburg and Cologne.
