Ivan Krastev
Ivan Krastev was born in Lukovit, Bulgaria, in 1965. After studying philosophy in Sofia he became head of the Center for Liberal Strategies in Sofia. From 2005 to 2011, he was a council member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies in London as well as editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian edition of the magazine »Foreign Policy«. Furthermore, Krastev is a founding board member of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), associate editor of the journal »Europe’s World« and editorial board member of the »European Revue« »Transit«. In 2013 he published his essayistic reflections »In Mistrust We Trust: Can Democracy Survive When We Don’t Trust Our Leaders?« (2013). Krastev is a Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Stiftung in Berlin (2013–2014).
