Hedwig Richter, born in 1973 in Urach, is a historian and author. She studied history, German, and philosophy in Heidelberg, Belfast, and Berlin and completed her habilitation at the University of Greifswald in 2016 on the cultural history of elections in the 19th century. She writes for newspapers such as »FAZ« and »ZEIT« and is the author of various non-fiction books. In 2020, she was awarded the Anna Krüger Prize for particularly well-written and comprehensible academic works. She has been Professor of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich since 2019.
