Hasnain Kazim is a journalist and writer. He was born in Oldenburg, grew up in the Altes Land region of Lower Saxony, and spent a year of his childhood in Karachi, Pakistan. After finishing school in Stade, he initially served as a naval officer and then studied political science. His journalistic career began at the »Stader Tageblatt« and the »Heilbronner Stimme« and took him to the dpa bureau for South Asia in New Delhi. For many years he worked as a foreign correspondent for »Spiegel«, based in Islamabad, Istanbul, and Vienna. In his personal essay »Der Islam und ich. Was mich meine Familie, meine norddeutsche Heimat und mein Leben in muslimischen Ländern über den Islam gelehrt haben« (2026, »Islam and Me: What My Family, My North German Homeland, and My Life in Muslim Countries Taught Me About Islam«), he describes his personal view of Islam, shaped by both family experiences and journalistic encounters with world politics.Hasnain Kazim lives as a freelance writer in Vienna.
