Gudrun Krämer

born in 1953 in Marburg, she studied History, Islamic Studies, Political Science and English before becoming a professor of Islamic Studies in Bonn. She is the director of the Institute of Islamic Studies at the Free University of Berlin and also director at the Berlin Graduate School Muslim Cultures and Societies. Most recently in 2010 she published an English-language biography of the founder of the Egyptian Muslim brotherhood, Hasan al-Banna.
