Gesine Danckwart

Gesine Danckwart was born in Elmsholm in 1969. She grew up near Lübeck, studied drama in Berlin and while a student set up a free theatrical venue in Moabit. She later worked in theatres in Vienna, Mülheim, and Berlin. Her definitive breakthrough as a figure in German theatre came with »Girlsnightout« in 1999. Her most recent play, »Auto« (t: Car), had its première at the HAU in Berlin. She co-edited the book »Chinaland«, which is to be published in the autumn of 2009. Danckwart lives in Berlin.
