Karl-Markus Gauß

born in Salzburg in 1954, is an Austrian writer and editor of the magazine »Literatur und Kritik«. He has received numerous awards for his essays, travel reports, journals and narrative prose, most recently the Jean Améry Prize for European essay writing. He is a member of the German Academy for Language and Literature and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Salzburg.
