Frank Bösch was born in Lübeck in 1969. He taught history at the universities of Göttingen, Bochum and Gießen. Since 2011 he is director of the Leibniz Center for Contemporary History (ZZF) and Professor of 20th Century European History at the University of Potsdam. Most recently, he published »Deals mit Diktaturen. Eine andere Geschichte der Bundesrepublik« (2024; tr: Deals With Dictatorships: A Different History of the Federal Republic of Germany), which examines how West German democracy has dealt with autocratic states since the Adenauer era.
