Ewald Palmetshofer
Ewald Palmetshofer was born in Linz in 1978, studied Theology, Philosophy and Psychology in Vienna. He was in-house playwright at the Schauspielhaus Wien in 2007/08. In a poll made by the journal »Theater heute«, the participating critics chose him as the best young dramatist in 2008. He also received the Dramatist Award of the Cultural Circle of the German Industry and was nominated for the Nestroy Prize / Best Young Talent for »wohnen. unter glas« (tr.: living under glass). »hamlet ist tot. keine schwerkraft« (tr.: hamlet is dead. no gravity) and »faust hat hunger und verschluckt sich an einer grete« (tr.: faust is hungry and chokes on a grete/fishbone) were invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage. »tier. man wird doch bitte unterschicht« (tr.: animal. one will please become the lower class) opened at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden in 2010. In 2010/11, Palmetshofer was in-house dramatist and visiting dramaturge at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, in 2012 he was a member of the jury of the drama market of the Theatertreffen. He lives in Vienna.
