Davi Kopenawa

Davi Kopenawa Yanomami, born around 1956 in the Amazon region, is a shaman and representative of the indigenous Yanomami. He particularly campaigns for the protection of their land rights. He is co-founder and president of the organization »Hutukara Associação Yanomami«, which unites and represents various Yanomami communities in Brazil. He has received various international awards for his efforts, including the UN Global 500 Award (1989) and the Alternative Nobel Prize (2019).
