born in 1958 in Basel. In addition to being a philosopher, an intellectual, and an established writer in his fields, he also works as a professor of psychology and philosophy in Tel Aviv. On a regular basis, he writes for »Haaretz«, »Neue Zürcher Zeitung«, and »The Guardian«. His works concentrate especially on the society and politics of Israel. In »Zivilisierte Verachtung« (tr. Civilized contempt) he pleads for the right of well-founded criticism of any belief system or religion.
