Anna Engelke

born in 1969 in Unna, Anna Engelke is the Deputy Head of the ARD Capital Studio and the presenter of »Bericht aus Berlin«. She began her journalism career in 1992 at the »Westfalenpost« in Menden, before moving to WDR in Dortmund. In 1996, she completed a traineeship at NDR, after which she worked as a radio editor, reporting among other things on defense policy. From 2007 to 2012, Engelke served as a radio correspondent in Washington, D.C. She then became ARD’s spokesperson at NDR, a position she held until 2015. From March 2017 to March 2022, she was the spokesperson for Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his first term in office. Since November 2022, she has been one of the hosts of the security policy podcast »Streitkräfte und Strategien«. This regular update on the war in Ukraine is among NDR’s most-listened-to podcasts. Anna Engelke lives in Berlin.
