- Germany, Syria
born in 1999 in Idlib, Syria, Ali Alzaeem came to Germany with his family in the summer of 2015 as a teenager, initially settling in Nuremberg. In 2019, he completed his advanced technical diploma in business at the Elinor Ostrom School in Berlin and went on to study logistics. He currently works as a consultant for digitalization at a logistics company. In addition, he has contributed to projects for the German Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure [BMV] and TotalEnergies. As a co-founder of the Syrian Students’ Union Germany, he advocates for the interests of Syrian students living in Germany. He is interested in politics, enjoys acting, and writes poetry. In 2016, he took part in a project at the Schaubühne Berlin and performed in a stage production. In 2018, he joined »The Poetry Project« and published several texts on its website: »We write poems and talk in meetings about our problems and share experiences with others. I’ve learned more German here in a year than I did at school – and above all, I’ve learned the language of literature. I think the idea behind this project is fantastic, and it really helped me find my path.« Ali Alzaeem contributed to two poetry anthologies, most recently in 2024 with »Sei neben mir und sieh, was mir geschehen ist« (engl. »Be beside me and see what happened to me«). He lives and works in Berlin.
