
Alhierd Bacharevič
- Belarus, Germany
born in 1975 in Minsk, is a Belarusian writer and winner of the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding 2025. He studied Belarusian literature and linguistics in Minsk and has published several novels and essays. He received international recognition for his socio-critical magnum opus »Sabaki Ejropy« [2017, tr. Europe’s Dogs], which has been translated into several languages. His books have been banned in Belarus since 2021. At the end of 2020, Bacharevič fled Minsk and lived first in Graz and then in Chemnitz, Zug and Hamburg. Today, he lives in exile in Berlin.
