Adelina Tërshani is a dynamic force in feminist activism, journalism, and slam poetry, with a passion for challenging societal norms and advocating for gender equality. Hailing from Kosovo, she is a pioneering figure in the slam poetry scene, using her platform to confront and dismantle the patriarchal structures ingrained in her society.
Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action at Siena University in Italy, Adelina embodies a commitment to effecting positive change on both local and international levels. Her academic pursuits complement her extensive hands-on experience gained through years of dedicated work with women from rural backgrounds across Kosovo and the Western Balkans. Through her advocacy, she addresses pressing issues such as gender-based discrimination, inheritance rights, and sexual harassment, amplifying the voices of those marginalized by societal norms.
At the heart of Adelina’s activism is her evocative poetry, which serves as a powerful medium for societal critique and introspection. Her most renowned work, Patriarchal Logic, delivered during the International Women’s Day March in 2017, stands as a testament to her unwavering dedication to challenging the status quo. Her poetry collection House Pillar is a rallying cry for girls to assert their rights to inheritance, while Patriarchal Trauma delves into her personal experiences navigating societal expectations tied to male presence within the home.
Adelina’s impact transcends borders, with her poignant verses resonating across languages and cultures. Her works have been translated into English, Greek, German, Spanish, Arabic, Serbian, and Turkish, fostering a global dialogue on issues of gender equality and social justice.
