Jonathan Garfinkel is a writer and playwright. His plays include «Cockroach», «House of Many Tongues» and «The Trials of John Demjanjuk: A Holocaust Cabaret». His poetry collections are «Glass Psalms» and «Bociany», and soon «Do You Love Your Life?». His memoir «Ambivalence: Crossing the Israel/Palestine Divide» appeared internationally; his novel «In a Land without Dogs the Cats Learn to Bark» appeared in German translation by Henning Ahrens with Rowohlt Berlin (2023). In 2025 he received the work stipend for non-German literature by the Berlin senate for a work on illness and literature. He holds a PhD in Cultural Studies and lives in Berlin.
