Ruth-Maria Thomas is an author. She grew up in Cottbus and worked as a social worker in youth welfare services before studying at the Deutsches Literaturinstitut Leipzig. Her debut novel »Die schönste Version« (2024) received the Ulla-Hahn-Preis and was shortlisted, among others, for the Deutscher Buchpreis, the aspekte-Literaturpreis, the Buddenbrookhaus-Preis, and the Preis der deutschen Wirtschaft. In 2025 she hosted the rbb podcast »Der Bruch – Frauen zwischen Ost und jetzt«. Her second novel »Die zweitgrößte Liebe« will be published in 2026. She lives in Leipzig.
