Ronya Othmann is a writer and journalist. She studied at the literature institutes in Biel and Leipzig. Until 2020 she wrote for the taz; since 2021 she has written the column «Import Export» for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung. For her debut novel «Die Sommer» (2020) she received the Mara Cassens Prize. In 2019 she won the Audience Award of the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize for an excerpt from «Vierundsiebzig»; published in 2024, the novel was nominated for the German Book Prize. In 2025 she published the travel report «Rückkehr nach Syrien». Ronya Othmann lives in Leipzig.
