Hernán D. Caro, born in 1979 in Bogotá, Colombia, is a philosopher, historian and journalist. He pursued his PhD in Philosophy at the Humboldt University of Berlin (2009-2012), where he also completed his master’s degree. As a scholar, he contributed to academia through his dissertation » The Best of All Possible Worlds? Leibniz’s Philosophical Optimism and its Critics 1710-1755«. His multi-lingual competence extends to Spanish, German, English and Italian. Since 2012, he has been contributing to the feuilleton of the »Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung«. He also wrote for other prestigious outlets such as »ZEIT-Magazin«, »ARTE Magazin«, and »der Freitag«. From 2019, he has been moderating at the nternational literature festival berlin, interacting with notable authors such as Alan Pauls and Samanta Schweblin. Currently, he continues his work in journalism and academia while contributing as a freelance editor for journalistic projects of the Goethe-Institut.
