Shida Bazyar is a writer. She was born in Hermeskeil to Iranian parents and studied creative writing at the University of Hildesheim on a scholarship from the Heinrich Böll Foundation. In 2012 she received the scholarship of the Klagenfurt literature course. Her debut novel «Nachts ist es leise in Teheran» (2016) was translated into English («The Nights are Quiet in Teheran») and numerous other languages and was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2026. «Drei Kameradinnen» (2021) was nominated for the German Book Prize. Her new novel «Die Lücken» (2026) is about memory and origin. She lives in Berlin.
