Biography
Mark Isaacs, born in 1988 in Oxford, United Kingdom, is a writer, a researcher, a photographer, and journalist focusing on social justice and refugee rights. From 2018 to 2021 he was president of PEN Sydney, an affiliate of PEN International. As an author, he gained recognition with his 2014 book, »The Undesirables: Inside Nauru«, which exposed the conditions in Australia’s offshore detention center. He has since published two more books, »Nauru Burning« and »The Kabul Peace House«. His current project is his PhD focusing on Australia’s war on people smugglers. Isaacs contributes to publications like »The Guardian« and »The Sydney Morning Herald«. He currently resides in Northern NSW, Australia.
