Jung Chang born in Yibin, China, in 1952 and studied English at Sichuan University. In 1978 she won a scholarship to England, where she obtained a PhD in Linguistics at the University of York in 1982. »Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China«, her account of the lives of her family from the warlord period through the Mao regime became world famous and has sold some 13 million copies in over 30 languages. Her biography of Mao Tse-tung, written with her husband, Jon Halliday, was published in 2005. Jung Chang lives in London
