Hinrich Schmidt-Henkel
born in 1959 in Berlin. He is one of Germany’s most respected translators and has translated several well-known literary works from French, Norwegian and Italian, including works by Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Yasmina Reza, Michel Houellebecq, Jean Echenoz, Marie Darrieussecq, Jon Fosse, Camus, Ibsen and Diderot. He is also Chairman of the Association of German-speaking Literary Translators (VdÜ). He has received the Jane Scatcherd Prize and the Paul Celan Prize among others. Schmidt-Henkel lives in Berlin.
