David Machado

David Machado was born in Lisbon in 1978. He studied economics at the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gesto, and began his literary career writing stories that appeared in a supplement of the daily paper Dirio de Notcias. O fantstico Vero do Caf Lanterna (t: The fantastic summer of Caf Lanterna) was included in the anthology Contos de Vero (2004; t: Summer tales). Along with a novel, O Fabuloso Teatro do Gigante (2006; t: The giants fabulous theatre) a fantastical journey through the inventive and enchanted imaginary world of Thomas and his wife Eunice, who relocate to a small village where they don’t know anyone Machado has also published two childrens books. He was awarded the Primio Branquinho da Fonseca in 2005.
