Right-wing populist campaigns denounce it as » woke« or elitist, while progressive voices criticize its instrumentalization – partly the result of excessive agenda-setting they themselves have encouraged. Artistic freedom is under threat from several sides. What might a contemporary funding practice look like – one that protects diversity while helping to restore social and political trust?
