Marzia’s new bed is still unassembled when war reaches her home. Overnight, she and her family are forced to flee. At a motel, she meets a writer and hands him the notes she kept during their escape—then she vanishes. Published under pseudonyms, this seemingly fragmentary book offers a powerful and sensitive meditation on war and displacement. A linguistically rich and unexpectedly humorous literary reflection on the meaning of remembrance.
