born in 1970 in Anaheim, is a Filipinx-US-American composer, percussionist, and sound artist who won the 2025 Pulitzer Prize in Music for her composition »Sky Islands«. The work, commissioned by the Fromm Music Foundation and NYSCA AWAW Environmental Artist, premiered at Asia Society New York in 2024 and will have its West Coast premiere at the Ojai Music Festival in 2025. In 2025, her new piece »CHAN: Sonnets and Devotions in the Wilderness« was commissioned by MaerzMusik Berliner Festspiele and co-produced by the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program. She has recorded over 40 albums and performed at venues and events including Carnegie Hall, the Olympics, and the Sharjah Biennial. Her recent awards include the 2025 Creative Capital Award, the 2024 American Academy of Arts and Letters Charles Ives Fellowship, and the 2023 Anonymous Was a Woman Award.
