Sara al-Jarwan became famous for her »Diary of a Recruit«, which arose from her personal impressions during a tour of duty in the 1991 Gulf War. Her literary focus today is on the relationship between social customs in the UAE and modern women.
Khulood al-Mualla's poetry has so far been collected in four volumes and have won numerous literary awards, as well as having been translated into Spanish and Turkish. Her poetry is based on the desire to conquer the world through the vision of a Sufi through whom she encounters herself, life itself and the universe.
