born in 1958 in Cologne, Brovot studied Romance languages and literature, and political science in Cologne, Toulouse, Granada, and Berlin. He has been translating from the Spanish (Goytisolo, García Lorca, Vargas Llosa, etc.) since 1989. A co-founder in 1997, and president since 2009, of the Deutscher Übersetzerfonds (German Translators’ Fund), he also trains translators. Brovot won the Spanish embassy translation prize (1997/2007) and the Helmut-M.-Braem translation prize (2012).
