Dreams are the stuff cities are made of for the gifted writer Mircea Cartarescu. His vision of the future leads into the »inner city«, which is constantly recreated from ancient memories. At the panel, this master of morbid fantasy meets the Angolan writer Sónia Gomes, who uses sober language to tell a moving story, which is marked by the experience of civil war but appeals to a better future.

In the dream worlds of the Romanian writer, the great aspirations of urban science become reality: they are entirely recyclable. The two authors discuss the city on the threshold between dream and reality with Helmut Rechberger, professor of resource and waste management, and Jasmin Wiefek, psychologist and researcher for sustainability.
