CITY OF THE FUTURE | CLOSING EVENT

The visions of Columbian author Laura Restrepo and Algerian author and Peace Prize award winner Boualem Sansal will conclude the roundel of the »Future of Cities« series. Killer, cocaine, and organized crime still shape Columbia’s image today. Restrepo doesn’t doubt this image for a second. »Nobody can control that bedlam, impossible«, says a key sentence in her exemplary, straightway allegorically excessive narrative about the violent reality of her homeland. The control-mania of city planners and politicians, which escalates into totalitarianism, stands at the center of Sansal’s vision for the future. The PhD social scientist Hildegard Matthies will oversee the panel discussion.
