Poems are what helped Ruth Klüger survive the concentration camp - the stanzas of Goethe, Schiller and Heine. She drew strength, not only from these, but from her own poems. She wrote poems as a young girl in Auschwitz and continues to do so today. Her writing is collected in the volume »Zerreißprobe« (tr: Tensile Test), in which a new side of the author's work is revealed.
