Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The wife of a British oil company employee disappears. Rufus, a journalist, can smell a good story and sets out on a journey into the delta. With growing horror he observes the destruction of the environment and escalating violence. He also sees how the desire for profit – which motivates opposing forces, oil companies, the police, the military, and politicians and rebels alike – causes dehumanisation on all sides.
