International Children's and Youth Literature
Price 5 Euro

Illustrator Rhambaros Jha explores the wonders of aquatic life in the traditional style of Indian Mithila art. Throughout the book, we encounter smiling crocodiles, valiant frogs, sly cranes, secretive lobsters and many other animals in brilliantly colored illustrations. Every painting is accompanied by two little texts: the artist’s explanations to his motifs and partially 2000-year-old Tamil poems discussing water and its inhabitants. Both the original Hindi version and the German and English translations are hand-printed in India – every copy is not only a work of art, but entirely unique. Rambaros Jha is a first-time visitor of the ilb and will be presenting WATERLIFE for the first time internationally. “An illustrated spectacle of nature” (Andreas Platthaus, FAZ).
