Economic insecurity, terrorism, climate change, global migration, technological progress – these are some of the major challenges of our time that affect every one of us, as well as our planet. The resulting problems are complex and their solutions anything but straightforward; it’s no wonder that they spark fear and anxiety in us. How can this anxiety and these global problems be approached in a constructive way?


STEFAN WILLER [D] is Professor at the Institute for Cultural History and Theory, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Associate Director of the Center for Literary and Cultural Research.


GERD HOFIELEN [D] is a researcher of ethical business models and a consultant with a focus on the ethical development of companies. He is an activist of the »Economy for the Common Good« and organizes conferences for humanistic management practices.

RALF FÜCKS [D] is a politician [Alliance 90/The Greens] and was on the board of the Heinrich Böll Foundation for many years. His book »Freiheit verteidigen - Wie wir den Kampf um die offene Gesellschaft gewinnen« [tr. Defending Freedom – How We Can Win the Fight for an Open Society] was published in 2017.

CARLO STRENGER [CH/ Israel] is a philosopher, practicing psychoanalyst, and Professor of Psychology at the University of Tel Aviv. He has published numerous books and articles, among others in Israel’s leading liberal newspaper »Haaretz«.
