Opinions on India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi are divided. Since his election in 2014 on a platform of promoting economic growth, news from India has been dominated by stories of rampant Hindu chauvinism. Is Modi an economic reformer, a Hindu zealot, or both? In his talk (via Skype) on India Shashi Tharoor will explore the path that has led from colonialism to Modi, investigating how the ruling party's view of history is still influencing the current political situation.
